EU–Turkey Customs Union

Turkey has been part of the European Union Customs Union since 1996 (Decision No 1/95 of the EC–Turkey Association Council). Under this agreement, industrial goods — including wood products — can be exported from Turkey to EU member states without customs duties.

This means that bent birch bed slats and wood components supplied by Shirin Wood enter the EU duty-free when accompanied by a valid A.TR movement certificate.

The A.TR movement certificate (A.TR dolaşım belgesi) is issued by the local chamber of commerce and stamped by Turkish customs. It confirms that the goods are in free circulation in Turkey and qualify for duty-free treatment within the EU Customs Union.

E1 Emission Compliance

All birch bed slats supplied by Shirin Wood comply with the E1 emission class as defined by the European standard EN 717-1 (formaldehyde emission measured by the chamber method).
